Adapter or converter? They do different jobs.
A plug adapter changes the shape
It lets your plug fit a different socket. It does not change the electricity flowing through it.
A converter changes the voltage
It is for single-voltage devices when the destination uses a different voltage system.

Phones, laptops, and most modern chargers accept both common voltage systems and only need the right plug adapter.
