At journeybot, we believe that your travel plans are personal. We built journeybot to be private by default. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data—which is by collecting as little of it as possible.

1. Your Data Stays With You

We do not have access to your journeys, packing lists, or any other content you create within the app.

  • On-Device Storage: All your data is stored locally on your device.
  • iCloud Sync: When you use multi-device sync, your data is stored in your personal, private iCloud container. Data is protected using Apple's iCloud security and encryption mechanisms. We (the developers) cannot access, read, or share your data.

2. Data We Collect

We do not collect any Personal Identifiable Information (PII) such as your name or email address. The Application does not use cookies.

Anonymous Analytics: We use TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous usage data to help us improve the app. This data does not contain any personal information and cannot be linked back to you. Examples of usage data include:

  • App launch counts
  • Features used (e.g., "Packing List Generated")
  • Device type (e.g., "iPhone 15 Pro")
  • Crash reports

3. Location Information

journeybot may request access to your location only if you choose to set a “Home Location” in your user profile.

  • One-time access: Location is fetched once, only at the moment you confirm your home location.
  • User-initiated: Location access is never requested automatically or in the background.
  • Purpose: Your home location is used to calculate journey distances and improve packing suggestions (for example, power plug compatibility).
  • Local storage only: Your home location is stored on your device and synced via your private iCloud container.
  • No sharing: This location data is never shared with us or any third parties.

journeybot does not track your location, does not perform background location updates, and does not access your real-time location.

4. AI & Data Processing

journeybot uses Artificial Intelligence to generate packing suggestions.

  • Local Processing: AI models run locally and offline on your device using Apple Intelligence.
  • On-Device Foundation Models: We leverage Apple Foundation Models that run entirely on your device to generate intelligent suggestions. Your data never leaves your device for AI processing.

5. Journey Intelligence

We may use the destination of your journey to fetch relevant information that helps you prepare better, such as:

  • Visa entry requirements
  • Vaccination requirements
  • Weather forecasts (via Apple WeatherKit)

This lookup service is operated by journeybot. It is designed to be privacy-first: it never stores your journey details and does not share your personal data with any third parties.

These features require an internet connection to retrieve up-to-date information.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Apple iCloud: For data synchronization.
  • TelemetryDeck: For privacy-first anonymous analytics.
  • Apple WeatherKit: For providing local weather forecasts based on GPS coordinates of the destination you selected.

7. Opt-Out

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

8. Children's Privacy

The Application is not used to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. We encourage all children to never submit any personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's Internet usage and to help enforce this Policy by instructing their children never to provide personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personally identifiable information to us through the Application and/or Services, please contact us so that we will be able to take the necessary actions.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We will notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

10. Your Consent

By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.

11. Governing Law

This app is governed by applicable EU and international data protection laws.

12. Affiliate Disclosure

Some packing suggestions in the app may include affiliate links to third-party retailers. If you choose to purchase items through these links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps support the development of journeybot. Please note that we are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or products of these third-party sites.

No Data Sharing: Generating these suggestions happens on your device. We do not share your trip details (such as destination or dates) with these retailers.
